Claire - Love Me True Series

What a powerful goddess you are Claire! I loved the deep and powerful conversations we had during your photoshoot. It was an honour to also get to see how you work with Craniosacral therapy, your work is much needed and will help heal women. Keep being authentic to your journey xx

Tell us your story!
I have been attending births as a midwife for 19 years, traversing the space between Tapu and Noa, having the privilege to observe women stepping into their Roar .

I now teach other midwives nationally and internationally, sharing the importance of care and respecting the intact sovereignty of mothers and babies.
I dance wildly and feel I am getting juicier and more full of joy as I age.

What made you want to take part in the Love Me True Campaign?
I’m a Muma, midwife and Craniosacral therapist. I am developing a new website and at the same time I saw Jessie’s questionnaire.
What attracted me to respond was that I am usually quite shy around photos / advertising as I don’t fit the mould western ideals of glamour and beauty and I felt really vulnerable around the thought of needing to engage with photographers/ advertising material etc.
Jessie prompted her business in such a way that I felt she had an understanding and appreciation for women in their beauty in all its forms.

What advice would you offer to other women who are considering taking part in the campaign?
If you would like to have photos done but you are feeling shy or not confident don’t worry. Jessie and her beautiful makeup artist, Jamie create such a space of safety, acceptance and ease that really helped me feel settled and comfortable.

What is your favourite physical feature about yourself?
My healthy body that can dance wildly.

What is your favourite NON physical feature about yourself? (After all, beauty is not only on the inside!)
My tenacity and capacity to yield.

What does it mean to love yourself?
Loving myself means accepting and appreciating who and what I am and engaging loving boundaries and rest.

How did you feel during the experience?
I felt so safe, calm, happy and at ease. Jessie and Jamie were so kind, down to earth, relaxed and warm. I trusted their authentic celebration of their own, mine and other women’s expressions of beauty.

How did this experience impact you? Have you noticed any changes in yourself, be it your self-confidence or anything else since your session?
I was surprised at how relaxed I was on the day - I wasn’t expecting to be able to feel so safe and happy. Usually I don’t like photos of myself but I enjoyed the photos at the end of the shoot. I feel the shoot and the photos have supported my confidence to grow and I feel more solid around presenting myself.

What was the best part of the experience?
The best experience was the relaxed and fun atmosphere and connecting with these 2 beautiful women, it felt fun. I really liked the juicy conversations we had and the sense that by appreciating our own beauty we were changing the paradigm of supporting all women to appreciate their own beauty. I also enjoyed the make up application.

Is there anything else you would like to share?
Jessie was really professional and clear with her emails and communication. I would really recommend Jessie and Jamie.

Last question, would you do it again?
Yes, I would do it again.
